Penguin Random House chief revenue officer Jaci Updike has announced a new leadership structure of the publisher’s children’s sales department. Assuming two new leadership positions are Becky Green, who has been promoted to SVP for retail and Penguin Young Readers sales, and Mark Santella, who was promoted to SVP for mass merchandise and Random House Children’s sales.
With the promotion, Green will maintain her current oversight of national accounts and retail sales, in addition to her new Penguin Young Readers sales-leader responsibilities. Similarly, Santella will continue to oversee all mass merchandise channel responsibilities for all the company’s children’s publishers, while taking on the role of maximizing the department’s sales across a broad spectrum of categories and brands.
As part of the restructuring, Green will hire a new sales director for Penguin Young Readers. Green and Santella are PRH Children’s sales veterans and will report to Updike.
The reorganization has also led to the creation of a new position, VP for children’s sales development, which will be filled by Debra Polansky. In this new role, Polansky will work across all PRH children’s sales channels and publishers on a variety of projects.
The changes follow this spring’s announcement that Amanda Close, SVP for children's sales and strategic market development at PRH, was stepping down from her position at the end of June.
