In a memo sent out this morning to its employees, Random House outlined an early retirement package now available to staffers 50 and over, which features enhanced benefits. The package, which is open to U.S. employees who have been at the publisher for at least five years, is being offered for only 45 days. March 1, April 15
The voluntary early retirement option is something the publisher called, in closing of the memo, "an attractive opportunity for our colleagues who may be interested in making a professional change." Company spokesperson Stuart Applebaum said there is no "hard target" of the number of employees RH anticipates taking the offer. The offer, he added, does not signal that RH is comtemplating a companywide downsizing.
