Looking to leverage its production and distribution capabilities, audiobook publisher Tantor Media has officially launched Tantor Studios. The new division, which has been in a “soft launch” phase since the fall, will offer full audio production and distribution services for publishers and authors. “The production model is set up to meet the personal service needs of self-published authors yet has the capacity to accommodate the volume requirements of larger publishers,” said Tantor’s Kevin Colebank.
Colebank said Tantor, which does about 600 of its own titles annually, has worked on several projects with publishers over the last five months but is now looking to offer the service on a larger scale. Clients give Tantor the digital text, agree on a narrator and Tantor will take do the rest. John Nesco, director of operations, will be in charge of the Tantor Studios division.
