NBCUniversal Television Consumer Products Group and Hyperion Books will publish Pawnee: The Greatest Town in America, a book written from the perspective of Parks and Recreation character Leslie Knope (portrayed by Amy Poehler), on October 4.

Each chapter of the 240-page will explore a different aspect of the fictional town’s history and expand upon events hinted at in the series, such as the time the whole town was on fire, and the ongoing raccoon infestation. Knope, a resident of Pawnee since her childhood, provides all of the research and comical insights into this Midwestern town that fans have grown to love.

Pawnee is a different direction for NBCUniversal’s television-to-book properties, which are mostly novelizations. They have had success with books based on Monk and Murder, She Wrote, which publishes book number thirty-six in the series, The Fine Art of Murder, this October. Books on the shows Royal Pains, Psych, and Warehouse 13 have already been released this year in print and digital formats.
