Simon & Schuster has offered 500 "best of" titles to any public or school library damaged by Hurricane Sandy in order to help in the restoration of their collections. So far, S&S has partnered with the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project's Literacy Lifeboats initiative to provide help to New York City schools.
S&S is also offering multiple copies, free of charge, of 20 new releases and bestsellers for retail accounts to help them attract customers as they get their businesses back up and running. Finally, through partnerships with First Book, K.I.D.S. World Vision, UJA-Federation of New York and the Brooklyn Public Library's Bookmobile, S&S is donating books for children and adults who have been displaced by Hurricane Sandy, including at shelters in New York and New Jersey.
