The bestselling author of The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown, will publish his next novel in the U.S., the U.K., and Canada on May 14. Brown's publisher, Random House's Knopf Doubleday group, said the new book, Inferno, will again feature Robert Langdon, the symbologist protagonist at the center of The Da Vinci Code. RH is doing a first announced printing of four million copies for the book, which is being released simultaneously in print and e-book.
Brown's last book, The Lost Symbol, was released by Doubleday in September 2009. According to Random House it sold 30 million copies in print, worldwide. The Da Vinci Code, which launched Brown to bestellerdom, was first published on March 18, 2003 and it, RH said, has sold 81 million (print) copies worldwide.
Inferno is set in Italy and, the publisher noted, follows a mysyery revolving around Dante's literary work of the same name. In the U.K., Inferno will be published by Transword, which is a division of RH. Vintage Espanol will also be publishing a Spanish language edition of the book, in North America, on May 14.
