USC Press has announced that acclaimed poet Nikky Finney will take over as editor of its Palmetto Poetry Series, which was founded by Kwame Dawes.
“Kwame Dawes started something radical and provocative in South Carolina in the arena of poetry. As the new editor of the Poetry Series at USC Press it will be an honor to keep that 21st century tradition going and add to what has come before me in new and surprising ways,” Finney told PW.
In 2013, Finney accepted a faculty position at the University of South Carolina as the John H. Bennett, Jr. Chair in Southern Letters and Literature The Palmetto Poetry Series aims to publish and endorse exceptional poets with South Carolina ties.
