The Perseus Books Group is integrating its London and New York sales teams, placing them under the control of someone who will take over the newly created role of v-p of international sales and marketing. The company is also creating a new department, called international operations and communications, that will be overseen by Agustina Casal, who was director of global marketing and communications.
The new v-p sales position position, which has yet to be filled, will report to Carolyn M. Saverse, Perseus's group v-p, who is based in New York. Casal will also report to Saverse. George Banbury, who oversees the London sales team, will remain in place, and report to the person who takes over yet-to-be filled sales position.
Additionally, Isabelle Bleecker and Jennifer Thompson have both been promoted to v-p, international rights. While Chitra Bopardikar, currently v-p of international sales and business development, is leaving the company.
Casal, Saverse said in an announcement, will aim to "bring operational excellence" to the company's international business, working on "everything we do...for our sales force, publishers and clients." The changes, in general, she added, speak to the company's investment in the international market "to further drive the value of intellectual property globally across all platforms."
