ProQuest announced this week that it has agreed to acquire Coutts Information Services from the Ingram Content Group, adding Coutts’ print and digital fulfillment service as well as platforms MyiLibrary and OASIS to it stable of products.
With the deal, ProQuest will assume ownership and management of Coutts and MyiLibrary, and “form a strategic partnership with Ingram for print fulfillment,” in which Ingram “will play a continuing role in print fulfillment” with its print inventory, and print-on-demand service.
In a blog post, ProQuest CEO Kurt Sandford placed the acquisition in the context other recent acquisitions, including ebrary, and EBL. The acquisition of Coutts is a “next step,” Sandford wrote in delivering “improved productivity” for customers and a “better research experience.”
Ingram acquired Coutts in 2006.
