Perseus Exploring Sale of the Company
A little over one year after its sale to Hachette Book Group fell through, the Perseus Books Group announced Sept. 9 that it has “initiated a formal process to explore a potential sale of the business.”
Tarcher, Perigee To Combine
Penguin Publishing Group president Madeline McIntosh announced that Tarcher Books and Perigee will be merging into a newly combined imprint. The Tarcher Perigee imprint will be headed by Joel Fotinos, who is currently v-p and publisher of Tarcher Books; John Duff, longtime v-p and publisher of Perigee, will retire at the end of the month. All new titles will be published under the Tarcher Perigee name.
New Guild Survey Finds Drop in Authors’ Income
The Authors Guild revealed in its first income study since 2009 that the median writing-related income among respondents dropped from $10,500 in 2009 to $8,000 2014 in 2014, a decline of 24%.
