Following its move to Boulder, Colo., last fall, Shambhala Publications has begun to expand. The press is acquiring 28-year-old Berkeley-based Rodmell Press, which publishes books on yoga, Buddhism, Taoism, and aikido.
The sale of Rodmell and its 40-title list was prompted by the retirement of its founders and owners Linda Cogozzo and Donald Moyer. As part of the acquisition, Rodmell will move distribution from PGW to Penguin Random House under the Shambhala logo beginning August 1.
Shambhala president Nikko Odiseos called the two houses “perfectly complementary” and said that the Rodmell list will be a “significant addition” to Shambhala’s yoga list. He added, “With our dynamic direct-to-consumer outreach, as well as our global distribution through Penguin Random House, we are excited to introduce these incredible books and authors to a whole new set of readers.”
Rodmell Press was represented in the deal by Susan Reich and David Lamb at Book Advisors.
