Macmillan Buys Self-Publishing Platform Pronoun

Originally founded as Vook, Pronoun was one of the early e-book and multimedia technology producers in the business, and will become a Macmillan company. Pronoun’s staff will be retained and will join Macmillan in its Flatiron Building HQ.

S&S Sued Over E-book Royalties

A former Simon & Schuster author, Sheldon Blau, has filed a class-action suit alleging that the publisher is cheating authors on e-book sales—even though his book was published by Simon & Schuster’s Macmillan professional and reference division, which S&S sold in 1998.

Comixology Launches Comics Subscription Service

Comixology Unlimited, launched in the U.S. on May 24, will offer access to thousands of comics from independent publishers for $5.99 per month. No DC or Marvel titles will be included. The service will launch elsewhere in the world at a later date.
