Andrews McMeel Publishing and Simon & Schuster Canada will publish two new books by Rupi Kaur, whose poetry collection Milk and Honey has sold more than half a million copies. The two publishers share world English rights.
“We could not be more thrilled to continue our relationship with Rupi and to bring her transformative poetry and prose to the world via two new publications,” Kirsty Melville, publisher and president of Andrews McMeel, said in a statement. “It is particularly exciting to look forward to the future today, as we recently celebrated the first anniversary of the publication of Milk and Honey."
The first book of poetry, currently untitled, in the two-book deal is set to publish in the fall of 2017. The deal was brokered by Suzanne Brandreth of The Cooke Agency.
Milk and Honey, also published by Andrews McMeel, has remained on the New York Times bestseller list for twenty-five consecutive weeks, and has sold well in the U.K., India, Australia, and New Zealand. Foreign rights have been sold to China, Korea, Italy, Spain, and Germany. Melville said there are over one million copies of the book in print.
