Melville House Publishing unveiled a new initiative to send every member of U.S. Congress a copy of its book, A Citizen's Guide to Impeachment. In the title, Barbara Radnofsky traces the history of impeachment in the U.S. and outlines the rules and process behind it.
The publisher is asking readers to buy the book, which published on Sept. 12, for a discounted price of $8 through a dedicated page on its website. Each copy of A Citizen's Guide to Impeachment purchased through the page will be mailed to an elected official within the legislative branch, with the goal of getting the book to all 535 members of Congress. Melville House will cover the shipping costs for all "donated" copies, and a running list of all senators and congress members who have been sent the title will be available to the public.
"The purpose of this initiative, and this book, is to show everybody the actual definition of impeachment as set down by the Founding Fathers, and ask whether it applies to anything that is going on now,” said Dennis Johnson, co-founder of Melville House, in a statement.
