KiCam Projects, an independent publisher based in Georgetown, Ohio, has opened a bookstore in nearby Mount Orab to serve suburban and rural readers on the outskirts of the Cincinnati area.
KiCam Books & Gifts had a soft launch on April 14, and a grand opening is set for May 12. The 1,100 sq. ft. bookstore will feature all of KiCam’s 16 titles of inspirational books and will carry books from other publishers as well. Jennifer Scroggins, executive v-p of KiCam Projects, said the store will start by offering bestselling titles—nonfiction and fiction alike—from the big trade houses and will also feature children’s books, gift books, and award-winning titles from indie presses.
“There’s really no dedicated bookstore in the surrounding area, so we want to make a wide variety [of titles] available,” Scroggins explained. She added that KiCam is still working on the store’s inventory mix, which she said will likely change between now and the official launch of the bookstore.
"We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to connect with local readers and to create a gathering place for book lovers,” said KiCam Projects publisher Lori Highlander. “We’re opening in an area that’s rapidly changing and growing, and we envision our store as a hub for the community.”
The May 12 grand opening will include a signing of Digger the Hero Dog, the first children’s book by Benjamin Franklin Award–winning author Kilee Brookbank. KiCam is publishing the book on May 8.
Founded in 2015, KiCam Projects focuses on publishing true stories of survival and recovery—from illness, addiction, tragedy, or other challenges—that will inspire and empower audiences.
