Globe Pequot, the Rowman & Littlefield imprint, will accelerate the release of George and Barbara Bush: The Great American Love Story, by the Bushes' granddaughter, Ellie LeBlond Sosa, following the death of former First Lady Barbara Bush at the age of 92. The book will receive a 25,000-copy first printing.
The book, to be released on Globe Pequot's Down East Books line in May, was initially planned for an October publication. The book is, the publisher said, a tribute by Sosa and co-author Kelly Anne Chase "about the Bush’s enduring relationship from its beginnings at the outbreak of World War II until April 17, 2018, when America lost one of its most beloved First Ladies." It includes Sosa's own reminiscences of "summers spent at her grandparents’ Kennebunkport, Maine, home and growing up within the inner circle of the Bush family, with intimate interviews with the Bushes and family friends."
“It’s going to be a very special book. We are honored that the family entrusted us with the publication of what we believe will become an important book of American history,” Rowman & Littlefield CEO and president Jed Lyons said in a statement. “It’s a rich, well-written tribute to a couple so many of us have been inspired by. We think it will resonate with readers of all political backgrounds, because it’s about what matters: family.”
