Hachette Book Publishing’s Grand Central Publishing has announced that its Life & Style imprint will be absorbed into the flagship GCP list at the end of 2018. The imprint was formed in 2010 under the direction of Karen Murgolo to publish books in the health, wellness, self-help, inspiration, and food and cooking categories. Now, GCP said, books in those areas will be published on the flagship GCP list.
Under the reorganization, new GCP titles in the affected categories will carry the Grand Central colophon beginning as soon as is practical in the new year, GCP said. Backlist titles will also be shifted to the GCP list as titles are reprinted. Among the projects released under the Life & Style imprint was Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop Press, an outgrowth of her website-turned-lifestyle-brand, Goop.
As part of the reorganization, a few specialist positions in editorial and publicity, including Murgolo's role, have been eliminated, the company said.
This is the second reorganization to take place at HBG within a month. In early November, it made changes to its Hachette Books and Nashville groups, a restructuring that cut about 25 positions.
