The litigation over Audible's Captions program goes on, but in a letter to the court this week Audible attorneys have asked federal judge Valerie Caproni to continue to hold off on ruling on two pending motions for at least two more weeks while the two sides discuss competing proposals to potentially end the case.
In an October 30 letter to the court, Audible attorneys asked the judge to "preserve the status quo" while Audible considers a proposal made by the publishers.
The publishers' proposal comes after Audible attorneys told the court it made a proposal earlier this month that it believes "moots" the publishers' lawsuit. While neither side has shared details of either proposal, an AAP spokesperson last week told PW they believe Audible's proposal did not "moot" the lawsuit.
Audible attorneys say they will advise the court of their progress by November 14.
