Independent publisher Riverdale Avenue Books has acquired all the assets of Circlet Press, an independent small press focused on science-fiction and fantasy works with sex-positive erotic themes. The acquisition includes more than 170 titles.
Circlet Press was founded in 1992 by writer, editor, and sex-positive activist Cecilia Tan, who will remain on staff and continue to edit the imprint’s upcoming title releases. The entire Circlet Press backlist will remain in print and continue to appear under the Circlet name.
Tan said of the acquisition: "We knew our titles would be simpatico. I’ve been impressed with Riverdale Avenue’s rapid growth. I always said I would never sell until I found someone who could do the job better than me, and I found that person in Lori Perkins.”
Perkins founded Riverdale in 2012. The house publishes in print and e-book formats via 13 imprints in the categories of erotica and erotic romance, memoir, LGBTQ, horror, mystery and thriller, science-fiction and fantasy, and sports and gaming.
Perkins said “Cecilia Tan and Circlet have been an inspiration to me in my publishing career and I am honored to carry on and expand the reach of these classic and ground-breaking works of erotic speculative fiction.”
