Sourcebooks has donated $200,000 to organizations championed by the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The one-time donations came from profits on sales of the 2021 The Legacy of Ruth Bader Ginsburg Wall Calendar: Her Words of Hope, Equality, and Inspiration, which was conceptualized and created in less than a week after Justice Ginsburg’s death in September 2020.
The donations benefitted six different organizations selected by a committee of Sourcebooks employees, who wanted the contributions to continue to support the justice's legacy. The organizations that received a portion of the donation include the Malala Fund, a nonprofit organization advocating for girls’ education around the world that was cofounded by Pakistani activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai; Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center; the National Organization for Women Foundation; the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum; the Washington Concert Opera; and the American Bar Foundation.
“Justice Ginsburg was an inspiration to women and girls across the country and the world,” said Dominique Raccah, Sourcebooks publisher and CEO. “Justice Ginsburg once said, ‘Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.’ We are thrilled to be able to honor her life and legacy by continuing to support worthy causes that were near and dear to her heart.”
