Ten Speed Press and the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford University, better known as the “d.school," are collaborating on a 12-book series focusing on creativity and design.
The first title in the series, Creative Acts for Curious People by Sarah Stein Greenberg, the executive director of the d. school, will be published this fall. The book will offer 80 exercises to help readers explore their creativity. Stein Greenberg’s book will be followed by ten single-topic creativity and design guides that will be published starting in spring 2022. The collection will conclude in fall 2023 with a title written by d.school creative director Scott Doorley.
“As we emerge from a world-changing pandemic and grapple with increasingly complex issues and systems, our collective need for individual creativity skills to light our paths forward has never been greater,” Julie Bennett, executive director of Ten Speed Press, said in a statement. “We’re incredibly excited to work with the renowned d.school to create a compendium of ideas, wisdom, guidance, and exercises that will bring the vast and unique power of its methods and tools to audiences—and challenges—everywhere.”
Stein Greenberg added: “We’ve seen the d.school’s classes and approaches reframe obstacles as opportunities and unlock creative thinking. Our goal is to spread and democratize the institutional insight and intelligence we’ve gleaned from nearly two decades of experience and from some of the world’s most innovative thinkers, and we’ve found in Ten Speed the perfect partner to make our rich offerings accessible to all.”
