Marysue Rucci, formerly v-p and editor-in-chief at Simon & Schuster, will move to Scribner as v-p, publisher, and editor-in-chief of the newly formed Marysue Rucci Books imprint on September 7.
In making the announcement, Scribner senior v-p and publisher Nan Graham said Rucci’s “facility and flair as an editor of bestselling suspense, literary fiction, and memoir will complement and build upon areas of publishing in which Scribner has historically excelled.”
Rucci has worked at S&S for 24 years, beginning as an editorial assistant in the 1990s. She has served as a v-p executive editor at S&S and was v-p editorial director at Penguin USA from 2010-2012 before returning to S&S. During her time at S&S she is credited with acquiring a wide range of bestselling titles, including such works of fiction as Little Bee by Chris Cleave, The Need by Helen Phillips, We are Not Ourselves by Matthew Thomas, and White Ivy by Susie Yang. She has published such nonfiction works as The House a Sugar Beach by Helene Cooper, Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes, and The Bright Hour by Nina Riggs.
Rucci said she was “thrilled and honored” to join Scribner, adding that, “the opportunity to build a list at such a venerated imprint is the stuff of dreams.”
