Zando, a publishing house launched last fall by former Crown publisher Molly Stern, has announced yet another high-profile addition to its roster of "publishing partners": John Legend, Mike Jackson, and Ty Stiklorius of the Get Lifted Film Company. The trio joins previously announced Zando publishing partners author Gillian Flynn and actress Lena Waithe.
Zando works in partnership with creators, organizations, and institutions to publish titles under their own imprints. The new Get Lifted Books imprint joins Waithe's Hillman Grad Books and Flynn's Gillian Flynn Books on the roster of imprints.
According to Zando, it is actively acquiring books with Get Lifted for their inaugural list, which will feature "serious intellectual inquiries around race, culture, history and science, eye-opening, moving memoirs and biographies, entertaining and original fiction that challenges assumptions, and transformative, ideas-driven works of social justice." The first title to be published under this new imprint will be Liv Little's debut novel Rosewater, slated for spring 2023.
All Zando partners commit to publish four to six books over a three-year span. In spring 2022, Zando will publish its first three books, all under its eponymous imprint.
