Schiffer Publishing has announced the launch of its newest imprint, Schiffer Craft. The new imprint is billed as "an expert resource for crafters and makers," encompassing crafts including ceramics, textiles, floral design, glass art, woodworking, metal craft, jewelry, leather, painting, and more. Schiffer Craft will launch in fall 2023 and will publish approximately 25 new titles per season.
The imprint will be led by Marcia Young. Previously the founder of the Fiber Art Network and Fiber Now magazine, Young said her new role "feels like coming home, returning to my crafting roots." Sandra Korinchak, who has been with Schiffer Publishing since 2014, has been named the imprint's acquisitions and developmental editor. Also joining the Schiffer Craft team are production and developmental editor Karla Rosenbusch, design lead Ashley Millhouse, and marketing manager Danielle Drenth.
Schiffer Publishing, which was founded in 1974, currently has about 1,000 titles in its craft category backlist; Schiffer Craft plans to promote both backlist and frontlist titles, expanding on various existing craft categories and establishing new craft segments.
The Schiffer Craft logo, designed by Millhouse, is based on stork scissors, a commonly used embroidery tool. Backlist titles with the new logo will begin to be released in the spring 2023 season.
"For decades, Schiffer has been publishing titles for creative makers to teach and inspire," said Schiffer publisher and CEO Pete Schiffer. "Now, we're taking things a step further with a dedicated imprint. I look forward to watching Schiffer Craft grow and develop with its own unique vision."
