Tor Publishing Group has announced the launch of Bramble, a new romance imprint, and appointed industry veteran Monique Patterson to head it is as v-p and editorial director. Patterson will join Tor on February 27, and will report to president and publisher Devi Pillai.
Patterson will oversee and develop Bramble as well as acquire titles for the imprint, in addition to acquiring fiction and nonfiction outside of Bramble. She has almost 25 years of publishing experience, specifically in romance, and most recently served as v-p and editorial director at the St. Martin's Publishing Group.
The imprint will begin publishing books this fall in hardcover, trade paperback, and trade paperback originals. Bramble's inaugural title will be Jennifer Armentrout’s Fall of Ruin and Wrath, a fantasy romance for adults, slated for September 2023. Other titles will include Constance Fay's Calamity, slated for November 2023.
In October 2023, Bramble will publish paperback editions of Olivie Blake’s 2020 novel Alone with You in the Ether and Everina Maxwell’s 2022 novel Ocean's Echo. Bramble expects to publish 10 to 12 titles in its first year, and to expand the number in future years.
The launch of Bramble is the latest step in Tor's effort to expand beyond its science fiction and fantasy roots. Other genres in which Tor publishes include thrillers, mysteries, horror, adult general fiction and nonfiction as well as YA and children's titles.
Last August, Tor, which had been called Tom Doherty Associates, was rebranded as Tor Publishing Group.
