In a tumultuous week for IDW Media, the company announced a new leadership team after laying off 28 employees, including its CEO and CFO, last Friday.
Last week, IDW announced it would be slashing its workforce by 39% and delisting from the New York Stock Exchange in what the company called "cost-cutting measures" taken in "response to operational challenges." Additionally, IDW announced the appointment of Davidi Jonas to the position of CEO (ousting Allan Grafman), the promotion of Amber Huerta to COO, and the firing of Brooke Feinstein as CFO.
Yesterday, IDW announced that Joshua Frankel has been named CDO (chief digital officer). Frankel was previously founder and CEO of the indie graphic novel publisher Z2 comics, and resigned from the company in late 2022.
On the editorial side, Mark Doyle and Tara McCrillis have been promoted to co-publishers and Jamie S. Rich has been promoted to editor-in-chief. Doyle and McCrillis succeed IDW's previous publisher Nachie Marsham, who was let go in last week's layoffs.
Doyle joined IDW in 2021, and previously worked in editorial at DC Comics for 15 years. McCrillis has been with IDW since 2019 and was promoted to v-p of publishing operations in 2021. Rich has been with IDW since May 2022, when he took over the editorial department for licensed comics, and prior to that he had served as editor-in-chief of Tapas Media, group editor at DC Comics, editor at Dark Horse Comics, and editor-in-chief of Oni Press.
