Neil Strong has been named COO of Macmillan Publishers, effective January 2.
Strong joins Macmillan from Barnes & Noble, where he most recently served as v-p of supply chain and customer service. Strong joined Barnes & Noble in 2017, and previously held positions as v-p of e-commerce, overseeing the launch of new Nook devices and Sparknotes Plus, as well as v-p of café. Prior to his tenure at Barnes & Noble, Strong was a v-p at Target Corporation.
Strong fills a previously vacant COO position and will report to Macmillan CEO Jon Yaged, who announced the appointment in a memo to employees.
“I am delighted that Neil will be joining Macmillan,” Yaged said in a statement. “He is a multifaceted executive with a long history of success. His varied background in supply chain, customer service, ecommerce and retail will be invaluable as we continue to grow and expand our business."
Strong will oversee Macmillan's fulfillment centers in the U.S. and U.K. in addition to the following teams: platform and development; publishing operations and technology; machine learning; facilities and real estate; business systems; and inventory management.
