Alyssa Awe will join Macmillan in the newly created role of executive v-p of business development and strategy on June 3, reporting to Macmillan CEO Jon Yaged. Awe will oversee the publisher's strategic initiatives, business development, and central marketing, as well as its audio division and publishers-at-large.
“Alyssa is fabulous,” Yaged said in a statement. “Her impressive acumen for identifying market trends, data-driven mindset, and passion for operational excellence will, no doubt, make Macmillan better. I couldn’t be more excited to welcome her to the team.”
Awe, a 20-year publishing veteran, is moving to Macmillan from Penguin Random House, where she was most recently senior v-p of strategic operations and projects. At PRH, Awe contributed to the development of a house-wide operations team and oversaw such projects as M&A integrations, operations enablement, and data analysis. She was also a founder of PRH's Zeitgeist imprint, a data-driven startup publishing practical nonfiction titles, where she served as publisher.
“This is a bittersweet moment for me,” Awe said in a statement. “While I am deeply grateful for all of the invaluable experiences I've had at Penguin Random House, I am so thrilled for this opportunity to join Jon and the incredibly talented team at Macmillan Publishers."
