Diana Baroni, formerly SVP, editor-in-chief, and publisher of Harmony Books and Rodale Books at Penguin Random House, is joining HarperCollins on October 7 as SVP and publisher for Harvest and Harper Wave. Both imprints focus on the lifestyle and wellness categories.
As a result, the dormant Harper Wave will move from the Harper Group to the Morrow Group, where Baroni will report to Liate Stehlik, the group’s president and publisher. Per a release, the move will “bring together the publishing strategy and operations for Harvest and Harper Wave under one unified vision.”
“I am thrilled to welcome Diana to HarperCollins,” Stehlik said in a statement. “Diana’s long history of publishing the preeminent authors in the lifestyle and wellness space pairs perfectly with our goal for uniting the Harvest and Harper Wave publishing programs under her leadership.”
Harper Wave was founded by Karen Rinaldi, formerly its SVP and publisher, in 2012, and has published books by such authors as Gregory Gourdet, Steven Gundry, Rodney Habib, Matthew Hussey, Becky Kennedy, Nicole LePera, Robert Lustig, and Karen Shaw Becker. Its titles were moved to Harper earlier this year.
Harvest was founded in 2022 by VP and editorial director Deb Brody, following HC’s acquisition of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and the integration of the HMH lifestyle list. It has published works by authors including Valerie Bertinelli, Mark Bittman, Sara Gottfried, Jacques Pépin, and Josh Scherer.
Rinaldi left Harper Wave this March to join Harper, where she is SVP and executive editor. In a statement, she said she was “honored that the Harper Wave imprint will be re-established under Diana’s capable and experienced leadership.” Brody will retire from Harvest at the end of September.
At Harmony and Rodate, Baroni acquired and edited such titles as Peter Attia’s Outlive, Deepak Chopra’s Abundance, Lisa Genova’s Remember, Amanda Little’s The Fate of Food by Amanda Little, and Melissa Urban’s The New Whole30. “I am beyond excited to be joining the team at the Morrow Group and partnering with Liate to bring the Harvest and Harper Wave imprints under one roof,” she said in a statement. “By reviving the imprint that Karen so brilliantly founded and complementing it with the strengths of the Harvest team, we will be establishing ourselves as a premier destination for the broadest scope of lifestyle and wellness books.”
Correction: The headline on this piece has been updated to reflect that Harper Wave, not Harvest, was moved over to the Morrow Group.
