Approximately a year after acquiring Amber Lotus Publishing in Portland, Ore., which for 30 years has produced calendars featuring art and photography paired with inspirational text and quotations, Andrews McMeel Publishing will add inspirational books to the Amber Lotus imprint. The books published under the Amber Lotus imprint will spotlight, according to a release, “the sacred aspects of everyday life: spirituality, healthy living, and connection with the natural world.”
“The imprint will take an expansive view of the ‘self-care’ and ‘body, mind, and spirit’ categories, focusing on material that is more thought-provoking than it is prescriptive,” explained Kirsty Melville, Andrews McMeel Universal CEO and publisher. “Our goal is to produce books that are beautiful objects as well as wise companions.”
Amber Lotus will debut in the fall of 2025 with four releases: Ancestral Magic by Frankie Castanea, Worry Medicine by Nina Montenegro, Jessica Roux’s Tarot of the Woodland Wardens deck, and The Dream Atlas by Fiona Cook and illustrated by Kathleen Neeley. The company plans to publish 10 books under the imprint the following year. Andrews McMeel senior editor Melissa Rhodes Zahorsky is the imprint’s acquiring editor, and will report to Melville.
Andrews McMeel Publishing is a division of Andrews McMeel Universal, a global media group founded in 1970 and headquartered in Kansas City. Andrews McMeel is renowned for its humor, comic strip compilations, poetry, and children's books.
