Broadleaf Signs Book on American Fascism
Journalist, lawyer, and author Omer Aziz (Brown Boy) has sold North American rights to Shadows of the Republic: The Rebirth of Fascism in America—and How to Defeat It to Valerie Weaver-Zercher at Broadleaf Books. Aziz was represented by Bonnie Nadell of Hill Nadell Literary Agency. Broadleaf said Shadows explores why fascism is appealing to younger and more diverse generations of Americans, delving into its “precursors in American history, its modern incarnations, and how this American-made version of fascism will be a definitive idea and movement for the 21st century unless citizens find a way to counteract its appeal to youth.” Publication is planned for spring 2026.
Ace Takes Publisher’s Romantasy Debut
After an auction, Ace executive editor Anne Sowards has taken North American rights to Amy Coombe’s debut fantasy, Stay for a Spell, as well as two other as-yet-untitled books. Coombe is the pseudonym of Anne Perry, the publishing director of Arcadia Books, the SFF imprint of Quercus U.K. Ace said Stay for a Spell is a “cozy romantic fantasy” for fans of Travis Baldree’s Legends and Lattes and Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries that follows “an overworked princess who is cursed to remain in a bookstore—until she finds her heart’s desire.” Maddy Belton at Madeleine Milburn Literary, TV & Film Agency brokered the deal. Ace will publish Stay for a Spell in spring 2026.
Atria Lands YouTuber’s Motorcycle Memoir
In an exclusive submission, Yaniv Soha at Atria has acquired North American rights to Free Ride: Heartbreak, Courage, and the 20,000-Mile Motorcycle Journey That Changed My Life by Noraly Schoenmaker, a YouTuber with more than two million followers. Hannah Frankel at Atria will coedit. The deal was handled by Abigail Koons and Ben Kaslow-Zieve at Park & Fine Literary and Media on behalf of Luitingh-Sijthoff in the Netherlands. Atria said the book is “an inspiring memoir of a woman in her 30s who, in a moment of personal crisis, embarked on an epic, transcontinental motorcycle ride.” Free Ride will publish in June 2025.
Influencer’s Parenting Guide Goes to Harvest
In a preempt, child development specialist and social media influencer Siggie Cohen has sold world English rights to You Are the Parent to Sarah Pelz at Harvest. Kathy Schneider at the Jane Rotrosen Agency brokered the deal. Harvest said the book draws on Cohen’s “35 years of experience working with children and families, sharing the commonsense advice that millions of social fans love.” A fall 2026 publication is planned.
Indie Author Sells Three to Bramble
After an auction, Erika Tsang at Bramble U.S. and Gillian Green at Bramble U.K. have jointly acquired three books in the Wizard of Oz–inspired Great & Terrible Land series by indie author Nikki St. Crowe (Vicious Lost Boys series). Bramble said the story follows “a very different Dorothy Gale,” who finds herself dropped in a dark and shadowed land full of forest beasts, witches, a cursed soldier of fortune, and a wizard of immense power.” Suzie Townsend and Joanna Volpe at New Leaf Literary & Media brokered the world English rights deal. The first book in the deal will publish in spring 2026.
Vintage Takes LGBTQ Regency Sequel
In an exclusive, Anna Kaufman at Vintage has landed North American rights to TJ Alexander’s A Lady for All Seasons, the LGBTQ regency sequel to the author’s forthcoming A Gentleman’s Gentleman (Vintage, Mar. 2025). The deal was brokered by Larissa Melo Pienkowski at Jill Grinberg Literary Management. Melo Pienkowski said the book is about “a noblewoman whose lack of dowry and penchant for gossip leads her to plot a marriage of convenience with a very dear, very queer friend. But when a mysterious poetess hints that she is onto their scheme, cheeky hijinks ensue.” The book is set to publish in spring 2026.
