Dan Brown’s Inferno, set to be released May 14 by Doubleday, was the most buzzed-about book on social media in April, according to CoverCake, a company that tracks trending topics on major social media platforms. Inferno was the #4 book in March and Jeff Costello, v-p of CoverCake client services, said comments about the novel were continuing to build throughout the last half of April. Inferno supplanted the top book in March, World War Z, but, with a movie coming soon, the Max Brooks novel continued to be a hot topic. Inferno and World War Z were the only two titles for which the majority of comments came from men.

A new Great Gatsby movie propelled that American classic into the fifth spot of the CoverCake April ranking. “For a classic novel like this, it’s hard for people to talk about the movie without mentioning the book,” said Costello.

And women seem particularly excited about the new Maya Angelou, with Mom & Me & Mom debuting at #8.
