Bondfire Books, a new e-publishing company, has been launched by Alive Communications, a Colorado Springs-based literary agency representing Christian and inspirational authors. The company is publishing e-book exclusives by such bestselling authors as novelist Karen Kingsbury and Eugene Peterson, translator of The Message Bible; one from each author has already been posted to the Bondfire Books Web site.
Rick Christian, founder of Bondfire Books and Alive Communications, stated, “We aim to be a game changer by working with other literary agencies and paying all authors a 50% net royalty, essentially double the industry standard of 25%. We will also offer 5-year renewable terms instead of the normal life of copyright.”
Bondfire Books will offer authors and literary agencies a full range of services, including digital file conversion, jacket design, marketing (including social media), copyediting, and digital piracy protection, in partnership with Rosetta Books. Bondfire titles will include not only books, but also shorter works of 5,000 to 20,000 words, as well as collections of sermons, speeches, magazine articles, and poetry. Noted Christian, “These can be successfully published as e-book originals and help cross-support an author’s other works currently on sale in multiple formats.” Bondfire also will publish “commercially viable” backlist titles; four have been posted to the Bondfire site.
Alive Communications clients have included bestselling authors such as Todd Burpo for Heaven is for Real, Jerry Jenkins and Tim LaHaye for the Left Behind series, Karen Kingsbury, Eugene Peterson, and Lisa Beamer for her post-9/11 memoir, Let’s Roll!
