The Christian Small Publishers Association has announced the winners in its 2015 Christian Small Publisher Book of the Year Awards. The awards recognize books produced by small publishers for outstanding contribution to Christian life and are voted on by readers and retailers. View a complete list of winners. The shortlist for the 2015 Christy Awards, recognizing the best in fiction written from a Christian worldview, was released Apr. 21. The Christy Awards will be given on June 29 in Orlando, Fla., during CBA’s annual International Christian Retail Show.
In celebration of the Dalai Lama’s 80th birthday, Wisdom Publications will release a limited edition book from Buddhist magazine Shambhala Sun featuring his core teachings, a photographic biography, and contributions from some of those who know him best. The collector’s edition keepsake is due out in June. The Dalai Lama’s birthday is July 6.
Zondervan will publish the late Chuck Colson’s last work, My Final Word: Holding Tight to the Issues that Matter Most, on Aug. 4. The publisher worked with longtime Colson co-author Anne Morse and The Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview in selecting and arranging pieces dealing with public issues, written mostly during the last decade of Colson’s life. Colson, who died in 2012, was first in the public eye as a convicted advisor of President Richard Nixon but later became known as the founder of Prison Fellowship, a prison outreach and criminal justice reform group.
Thomas Nelson announced that two volumes of its God’s Promises gift book line, both of them aimed at school graduates, have together sold more than 1 million copies worldwide. God’s Promises for Graduates originally released in 2008 and God’s Answers for the Graduate released in 2012.
