The death of Christian author Jerry Bridges sent many of those in the religion and spirituality publishing world in mourning this week. Other headlines today include a new Curious George book that will introduce children to Ramadan and 12 Buddhist books to read on your path to enlightenment.

Jerry Bridges, author of Pursuit of Holiness, died at age 86 on March 6. Following the success of the 2003 title, Bridges wrote over a dozen more books for NavPress, including The Discipline of Grace. Also a Bible teacher, Bridges served on the staff of The Navigators’ collegiate ministry in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Over at BuzzFeed, Hena Khan, the author of the new Curious George book about Ramadan, explained her hope that the story teaches people about Muslim traditions. She wants people “to realize Muslim-Americans are a part of the fabric of American society and are engaged at every level… We embrace our American identity along with our Muslim identity.”

For those readers interested in which books can help lead to a path of enlightenment, the Huffington Post has compiled a list of 12 titles that center on Buddhism. The books, including Thich Nhat Hanh’s The Heart of the Buddha, introduce Buddhist practices of meditation and insight.
