Beaming Books Gets ‘Gritty’
Beaming Books’ Andrew DeYoung took world rights from Adria Goetz of Martin Literary Management to Gritty and Graceful: 13 Biblical Women Who Did Great Things for God by Caryn Rivadeneira. The picture book is a companion to Rivadeneira’s middle grade title, Grit and Grace, and tells the stories of 13 women in the Bible “in the style of Chelsea Clinton’s She Persisted,” according to the publisher. Gritty and Graceful is slated for publication in March 2019.
Traci Smith Moves to Beaming
Traci Smith, the author of Faithful Families: Creating Sacred Moments at Home (Chalice, 2017), is bringing a prayer book, Prayers for Faithful Families, to Beaming Books. In it, Smith collects over 50 prayers on daily life intended to "create meaningful faith connections at home," according to the publisher. Naomi Krueger took world rights to the book, which is expected to be published in spring 2020.
Harvest House Takes ‘Breakfast’
Kyle Hatfield at Harvest House took world rights from Adria Goetz at Martin Literary Management to Breakfast with Jesus by Tina Cho. The picture book is inspired by the biblical story of Jesus making breakfast for his friends on the beach. Publication is scheduled for 2020.
Fortress Nabs Pastor’s Debut
Rachelle Gardner of Books & Such Literary Management sold world rights to Fortress Press’ Lisa Kloskin to a book on navigating doubt and growing in faith by Minneapolis-based pastor Stephanie Williams O’Brien. The book, Passionate Uncertainty, is expected to be published in fall 2019.
‘Nothing’ Lands at WorthyKids
In a world rights deal, Peggy Schaefer at WorthyKids/Ideals acquired Nothing, a rhyming picture book by Natalee Creech that is based on Romans 8:38-39: "[Nothing] in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God..." Nothing is slated for publication in 2019. Adria Goetz at Martin Literary Management represented the author in the deal.
