Don Piper Lands at FaithWords
Deidre Knight of the Knight Agency sold world rights to People I Met at the Gates of Heaven by Don Piper and Cecil Murphey to Keren Baltzer of FaithWords. The book is the follow-up to Piper’s 90 Minutes in Heaven (Revell, 2004), which was adapted to film in 2015 and has sold over nine million copies to date, according to the publisher. On sale November 6, People I Met at the Gates of Heaven delves into the “welcoming committee” of people Piper encountered during the near-death experience depicted in 90 Minutes in Heaven.
A ‘Shadow’ for Shiloh Run
In a world rights deal, senior acquisition editor Annie Tipton at Barbour Publishing acquired for their Shiloh Run Press imprint Shadow Among Sheaves by Naomi Stephens. Slated for publication in spring 2019, the book is a modern retelling of the biblical character Ruth, set in nineteenth century England, in which Rena (Ruth) hails from India. Adria Goetz at Martin Literary Management represented the author in the deal.
McHugh Reups with IVP
Adam McHugh (Introverts in the Church and The Listening Life) sold world rights to Cindy Bunch for his third book with IVP, tentatively titled Blood from a Stone. In it, McHugh explores California vineyards and the "spiritual meaning of grapes, vines, and wine," according to the publisher. The book is scheduled to be published in early 2021.
Plough Signs a Story of Persecution
Plough’s publisher Sam Hine took world English rights from the German publisher, Rowohlt, to The 21: A Journey into the Land of Coptic Martyrs by Martin Mosebach, which tells the story behind the 21 Coptic Christian men who were beheaded by ISIS in Libya in February 2015—an event that was captured on camera for a gruesome propaganda video. The book is slated for publication in February 2019.
