Hachette Book Group (HBG) has agreed to acquire Worthy Publishing, a Christian press based in Nashville, Tenn. Following the acquisition, Worthy will join HBG’s FaithWords and Center Street imprints as part of its Nashville publishing division.
Worthy president and founder Byron Williamson will remain involved, but further details have yet to be announced.
“I have the utmost respect for the experience, instincts, and insights of Byron Williamson and his team, and I know that adding Hachette Book Group’s strength and expertise in sales, marketing, and support systems will allow us to grow their business more aggressively,” Hachette Nashville publisher Rolf Zettersten said in a press release.
Worthy has housed authors such as David Jeremiah and Franklin Graham, and the publisher’s five imprints—Worthy Books, Museum of the Bible Books, Ellie Claire, Worthy Inspired, and WorthyKids/Ideals—will remain intact under Hachette Nashville. Following the acquisition, Worthy and Hachette's Nashville units will publish approximately 135 new titles a year, according to a release. In the meantime, Worthy’s list will continue to be sold and serviced as usual until further notice
