Brafman Lands at Zondervan
Zondervan’s associate publisher and executive editor Ryan Pazdur took world rights from agent Mark Sweeney to Starfish and the Church: Unleashing the Leadership Potential of Your Entire Team by Ori Brafman (with Christian authors Lance Ford and Rob Wegner). Brafman (The Starfish and the Spider) has served as an adviser to the Obama White House, and the National Academy of Sciences, and more on organizational culture, employee engagement, business transformation, and leadership. His new book, which is slated for publication in November 2019, will look at how churches can benefit from a starfish structure, which features qualities such as the ability to function without a central authority and regenerate in response to external forces, according to the publisher.
IVP Tackles Narcissism
In a world rights deal brokered directly with the author, IVP assistant editor Ethan McCarthy acquired the tentatively-titled When Narcissism Comes to Church by Charles DeGroat. In it, DeGroat will draw on his clinical and theological experiences to respond to narcissistic behaviors of leaders in the church, as well as the evangelical church's tendency to reward charismatic leadership and create personality cults. It’s scheduled for publication in fall 2019.
