Zondervan Nabs Ty Pennington
The star of ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Ty Pennington, signed a contract with Zondervan for his memoir, Life to the Extreme: How a Chaotic Kid Became America’s Favorite Carpenter. The book, which is slated for publication next May and co-written by Travis Thrasher, will detail Pennington's childhood in Georgia, a diagnosis with ADHD while in college, and his rise to fame on television. World rights were sold to Zondervan's senior v-p of author and partner development Matthew Baugher and acquisitions editor Andy Rogers. The author was represented in the deal by Bill Stankey of Westport Entertainment.
FaithWords Signs a Debut for Moms
Bob Hostetler of the Steve Laube Agency sold world rights to FaithWords senior editor Keren Baltzer for the first book by Lauren Eberspacher, a contributor on HerViewFromHome.com and part of the Today Show parenting team. Midnight Lullabies: Moments of Peace for Moms–a 31-day devotional –features guided meditations and addresses postpartum depression and other parenting challenges. It’s slated for publication in spring 2020.
Wiens Moves to Fortress
In a world rights deal, Fortress’ Tony Jones bought Dust and Breath: Seven Mindful Practices That Help Ordinary People Touch God as a Living Reality by Steve Wiens, a church planter and pastor. Scheduled for publication in spring 2020, the book features seven mindfulness practices–attentiveness, ordinariness, simplicity, rhythms, conversation, delight, and restoration–aimed at helping readers recognize the divine in daily life. The deal was brokered by Christopher Ferebee of the Christopher Ferebee Literary Agency.
An Abridged Bible for Discovery House
Steve Laube sold world rights to Discovery House acquisition editor Mike Nappa for The Bible in 100 Words, a devotional by Len Woods. The book, which is slated for publication in March 2020, examines 100 key words from Genesis to Revelation.
