Convergent Buys Bowler Devotionals
Divinity professor Kate Bowler, whose 2017 book on living with an incurable cancer Everything Happens for a Reason and Other Lies I’ve Loved became a bestseller, and writer and podcast producer Jessica Richie have signed a two-book deal for devotionals with Convergent, a Random House imprint. The first book, titled Good Enough, and a second devotional to follow, will offer Bowler's invitation to give up on perfectionism and to realize "it's okay that life isn’t always getting better," according to the publisher. Agent Christy Fletcher at Fletcher and Co., brought world rights from Convergent editorial Keren Baltzer.
David C Cook Takes Book on Sports and Life of Faith
Agent Tom Dean of A Drop of Ink has negotiated world rights with Michael Covington, v-p at David C Cook, for tentatively titled The Christian Athlete by Brian Smith. Smith, on staff with Athletes in Action in Grand Rapids, Mich., offers an assist to players, coaches, and parents who want a wide-angled understanding of how to live the Christian faith in the context of sports. Release is scheduled for February 2022.
Broadleaf Acquires Title to Help Sons Heal
Valerie Weaver-Zercher at Broadleaf Books has bought world rights to I Wish My Dad . . .: Healing the Unfinished Business between Fathers and Sons by speaker and social entrepreneur Romal Tune, founder of Clerestory and author of Love Is an Inside Job. The book, based on the author’s interviews with men who unpack the relationships they had with their fathers, helps readers heal relationships with, or memories of, their own fathers. Agent Adrienne Ingrum represented the author in the deal.
Brazos Press Takes Two from Mockingbird's Zahl
Agent Alexander Field of The Binder sold world rights in a two-book deal for Mockingbird Ministries founder David Zahl to acquiring editor Katelyn Beaty at Brazos Press. The first book, Low Anthropology, looking at human nature, sin and grace, is set for release in fall, 2021. The title and topic for the second book is not set yet.
Co-Authors Relate to God in Book for B&H
Acquiring editors Taylor Combs and Ashley Gorman of B&H Publishing have signed a pair of authors for WHOLE: Relating to God with All of Yourself, scheduled for October 2022 release. Authors Kathryn Maack and Aaron Williams are cofounders of Dwell Ministries in Little Rock, Ark., and in the book explore what it looks like to relate to God with all, not part, of ourselves.
