Faith-Based Home Design Book Goes to Revell
Kelsey Bowen, senior acquisitions editor at Revell, has acquired the tentatively titled The Story of Your Home by Courtney Warren, to be released in May 2023. Warren, an interior designer who has been featured in Real Simple and Better Homes & Gardens, takes a room-by-room look at how spaces can strengthen relationships—based on Jesus’ call to love God and love others. World rights were negotiated by Mary DeMuth of Books & Such Literary Management.
WaterBrook Picture Book Addresses a Child’s Fear
Alice Fugate of The Joy Harris Literary Agency has brokered a world rights deal with acquiring editor Bunmi Ishola at WaterBrook for the picture book If I Were a Tiger by Caroline Coleman, with illustrations by Nadya Bonten-Slenders. The rhyming picture book tells the story of Tim Bone, who decides to become a tiger as the solution to conquering his fear, but finds that turning to God for help is the better choice. Publication is scheduled for summer 2022. Claire Easton at Painted Words represented the illustrator.
Brazos Buys Book on White Nationalism
Brazos Press’s senior acquisitions editor Katelyn Beatty has acquired world rights to sociologist Andrew Whitehead’s American Idolatry, scheduled for release in summer 2023. Whitehead, a sociologist and expert on white nationalism (Taking America Back for God: Christian Nationalism in the United States), challenges readers to weed out nationalism’s toxic effects in and on the church. Whitehead was represented by Giles Anderson of The Anderson Literary Agency.
Story of Renewal Signed by Bethany
Bethany House has acquired world rights to Manny Arango’s tentatively titled Brainwashed. Tom Dean of A Drop of Ink brokered the deal with Bethan's senior nonfiction acquisitions editor Jeff Braun for the October 2022 release. Arango, a speaker, evangelist, and Bible teacher, advises how to “renew our minds” by refocusing on Christ to find intimacy, identity, and community.
