Urban Ministries Incorporated (UMI) and HarperCollins Christian Publishing (HCCP) are launching UrbanFaithStudy.com, a subscription-based digital platform featuring videos and study curricula from well-known African American Christians, including authors and pastors. The digital library of sermons, Bible studies, and more is an extension of UMI and HCCP’s publishing and distribution agreement, which was signed in 2020 in an effort to better serve African Americans, and African churches, denominations, and consumers.
The monthly subscription is $5.95 for individuals and $19.95 for churches.
UrbanFaithStudy.com will target African American young adults—including divinity students, preachers, and anyone who is interested in how faith informs cultural engagement, according to HCCP. Mark Schoenwald, president and CEO of HCCP said in a statement that the new platform is a response to an evolving church—one that is increasingly reliant on technology for delivering messages about faith.
"When teaming up with UMI more than a year ago, we knew creating a video platform to host engaging, life-changing biblical content would showcase both organizations' ability to reach new audiences," he said. "When designing UrbanFaithStudy.com we used our strengths to achieve more than we could if we had each approached the project separately."
The digital library features over 100 sermons by pastors such as Bishop Joseph W. Walker, III of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Nashville, Tenn, and Dr. Dominique Robinson, a religious scholar, theological educator, and preacher. Curricula is available from authors such as Jemar Tisby, Crystal Evans Hurst, Jada Anae Edwards, and Lecrae. New content will be continuously added to the website.
