Bestselling author and president of Proverbs 31 Lysa TerKeurst’s newest release, I’ll Start Again Monday, debuts at #6 on PW's Religion Nonfiction Bestsellers list. The book on healthy eating was timed with New Years resolutions and benefited from an Instagram book tour, in which bookstores hosted virtual promotional events. Momentum for the new book also drove sales for her 2020 release, Forgiving What You Can’t Forget, which comes in at #9. The title, which delves into TerKeurst’s decision to stay in her marriage despite her husband’s infidelity and addiction issues, also saw renewed interest due to the author’s announcement of her divorce on January 1.
Sarah Young took the top two spots in Religion Nonfiction with her mega-sellers Jesus Calling and Jesus Always, respectively. The devotionals are joined on the list by two Bible studies. Priscilla Shirer, the bestselling author of Fervent, takes #3 with Elijah – Bible Study Book: Faith and Fire (B&H), while Kimberly Moore’s The Bible in 52 Weeks (Rockridge) comes in at #8. Often bought in bulk by churches, Bible studies are also increasingly appealing to consumers, as evidenced by the 2022 State of Christian Retailing Report.
Francine Rivers takes two spots on the Religion Fiction Bestsellers list with her popular Western romance, Redeeming Love. The January 21 premiere of the film adaptation boosted River’s original 2005 version of Redeeming Love to #2, while the movie tie-in edition takes #3. The film stars Nina Dobrev, Abigail Cowen, and Tom Lewis.
