Paraclete Signs Two for Young Readers
In a two-book deal, Paraclete Press bought world rights to The Tender Heart Bible and The Tender Heart Prayer Book by Laura Sassi, both illustrated by Sandra Eide. Charlotte Wenger at Prospect Agency represented the author, and Robbin Brosterman at the Bright Agency represented the illustrator. The storybook Bible encourages young readers to wonder and participate in understanding Old and New Testament stories, and the prayer book is a collection of rhyming prayers of praise and thanksgiving for daily activities. Publication is scheduled for winter 2023 and fall 2023, respectively.
Schiess Moves to Brazos
Katelyn Beaty, editorial director for Brazos Press, bought world rights from Don Gates of The Gates Group to Bible Politics by Kaitlyn Schiess. The author, who also wrote The Liturgy of Politics (IVP, 2020), is a doctoral student at Duke University, cohost of the Holy Post podcast, and writer for Christianity Today. The new book looks at America’s history of using the Bible in politics, highlighting “proper” use and “egregious misuse,” according to the publisher, in an effort to help readers apply Scripture to political participation. It is slated for publication in fall 2023.
