TikTok Influencer's Devotional to Zondervan
Kara Mannix, acquiring editor at Zondervan, has bought world rights via Debbie Alsdorf of Books & Such Literary to writer and TikTok influencer Sarah Grace Hallas’s 90-day devotional tentatively titled Abundantly More. In Hallas’s first book, she offers women in their 20s and 30s the hope they need to encounter God and find renewed hope in the midst of difficult times, according to the publisher. A 2024 release is planned.
Brazos Take's Pastor's Call for Values
Katelyn Beaty, editorial director of Brazos Press, has acquired world rights to Jesus Values by Steve Bezner, who was represented by Angela Scheff with the Christopher Ferebee Agency. A fall 2024 release is planned. In Jesus Values, the Texas Baptist pastor invites Christians to return to God-based values that confront the idols of power, money, and political influence he says have corrupted the American church.
'Black Liturgies' to Convergent
Tanya McKinnon at McKinnon Literary has sold world rights to Convergent’s executive editor Derek Reed for bestselling author (This Here Flesh) Cole Arthur Riley’s Black Liturgies, which is set for spring 2024. Riley brings together prayers, letters, poetry, breath practices, the works of Black artists and authors in 43 liturgies that invite readers to reflect on their life experiences as well as holidays such as Lent, Juneteenth, and Mother’s Day.
Podcaster to Baker Books
Patnacia Goodman, an editor at Baker Books, acquired world rights to Alicia Michelle’s Emotional Confidence from Keely Boeving of WordServe Literary. The author, who hosts the The Christian Mindset Coach podcast, teaches a simple three-step framework and specific application to help readers manage emotions with both biblical truth and self-compassion. The book is planned for fall 2024.
Nelson Acquires Pair by 'How to Human' Podcaster
Alex Field of The Bindery Agency has inked a deal with Nelson Books publisher Andrew Stoddard for two books by author, speaker, and podcaster Carlos Whittaker (How to Human). The first, to be published in fall 2024 and as yet untitled, will focus on creating sustainable, spiritual, and meaningful rhythms of life in chaotic times. The second project, also untitled, is expected in 2025.
Apples & Honey signs Passover Picture Book
Dena Neusner, executive editor at Apples & Honey Press, an imprint of Behrman House, has purchased The Passover Packrat by Barbara Diamond Goldin, recipient of the Sydney Taylor Body-of-Work Award for her collection of children’s books on Jewish themes. Scott Treimel of Scott Treimel NY represented the author for worldwide rights to this picture for ages 4-7 about a young boy struggling to clean his room before Passover. The book, scheduled for spring 2024 will be illustrated by Rita Tan, who is represented by Amy Milligan of the Illo Agency.
