WaterBrook editor Estee Zandee has acquired world rights in a multi-book deal, brokered by Esther Fedorkevich at The Fedd Agency, for multi-Grammy Award singer-songwriter Tasha Cobb Leonard’s Do It Anyway, scheduled for publication in summer 2024. The Billboard Top Gospel Artist of the Decade shares her career highs and lows and her wisdom for taking on challenges with faith and perseverance. The number and topics for subsequent books is to be determined.
Maddie Joy Fischer Signs with Baker Books
Debbie Alsdorf of Books & Such Literary Management sold world rights for two devotional books by Instagram influencer, blogger, and ministry leader Maddie Joy Fischer to Rebekah Guzman, editorial director of Baker Books. The first book, To Know Him More: A 60-Day Journey Exchanging Empty Pursuits to Knowing Jesus More Fully, releases in fall 2024. The second book’s title and release date is still to be determined.
'Church Girl' Goes to WaterBrook
Acquiring editor Jamie Lapeyrolerie of WaterBrook has taken world rights via Jevon Bolden of Embolden Media Group for the tentatively titled Church Girl: A Gospel Vision for Black Women in the Church by Sarita Lyons. A Bible teacher, psychotherapist, lawyer, and Community Ministry expert, Lyons focuses on the intersection of faith, mental health, and justice, as well as women’s issues inside and outside the church. Publication is scheduled for summer 2024.
Picture Book on Facing 'Bad Guys'
Linda Howard, associate publisher for children and youth at Tyndale House Publishers, has acquired world rights to Jesus vs. The Bad Guys by Connor Shram and Jared Neusch. Daniel Duncan will illustrate the picture book for ages 4-7. Their book advocates treating even "bad" people the way Jesus did—with love and forgiveness instead of anger and revenge. Publication will be spring 2024. Don Pape of Pape Commons Literary Agency represented the author, and Robbin Brosterman at the Bright Agency represented the illustrator.
Paraclete Takes Third Laura Sassi Title
Lillian Miao, director of Paraclete Press, acquired world rights to the fall 2024 release for My Tender Heart Devotions by ECPA-award-winning children's book author Laura Sassi. The devotional follows two earlier titles for Paraclete, My Tender Heart Bible and My Tender Heart Prayer Book. Written for 3- to 6-year-olds, the new book features 50 short poems, a short devotional and Scripture verse. Sandra Eide illustrates. Charlotte Wenger at Prospect Agency represented the author, and Robbin Brosterman at the Bright Agency represented the illustrator.
