New Kathleen Norris Title to Brazos
Brazos Press editorial director Katelyn Beaty has acquired world rights to bestselling author Kathleen Norris’ It’s a Beautiful Day, cowritten with Gareth Higgins. The tentatively-titled project, scheduled for a fall 2024 release, was agented by Alexander Field with The Bindery. Norris is the author of bestselling titles such as The Cloister Walk and Dakota. Higgins is cowriter with Norris of the Soul Telegram newsletter. In their new book, the spirituality writers discuss 12 acclaimed movies that address themes such as existence, goodness, and being human.
Kar-Ben Takes Passover Picture Book
Joni Sussman, publisher at Kar-Ben, has acquired world rights to Zayde Babysits Before Passover, a picture book by Jane Sutton, to be published in spring 2025. Ron Zollshan at KirchoffWohlberg represented the author, and illustrator Kate Chappell was represented by Alex Bushell at The Plum Agency. In the book, Ruthie's grandfather, Zayde, must get her dressed and ready for the holiday, but it’s his first time babysitting and mayhem ensues.
IVP Title Faces Down Fear
Ethan McCarthy, associate editor at IVP, has signed a world rights deal for Naeem Fazel’s (Ex-Muslim) tentatively titled Tomorrow Needs You, which will be published in spring 2025. Andrea Heinecke of The Bindery Agency brokered the deal. Fazal, reared as a Muslim in Kuwait and now a Christian and the founding pastor of a church, pulls from his life experiences — including time in the Gulf War zone—to discuss the intense fears so many face today.
Beaty Acquires Devotional for Women
Joy Eggerichs Reed, with the Punchline Agency, negotiated a world rights deal with Katelyn Beaty, editorial director of Brazos Press, for a devotional, tentatively titled The Women We’ve Been Waiting For, by Tiffany Bluhm. A speaker, writer and podcaster (Why Tho) Reed invites women into spiritual growth and self-care to better equip them to work for social change. A fall 2024 release is planned.
