Two organizations devoted to expanding Bible reading and engagement worldwide are now under one flag. Our Daily Bread Ministries has acquired The Institute for Bible Reading, which includes the organization's 2022 publishing properties such as Immerse: The Reading Bible named “Bible of the Year” by the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association in 2022.
The December acquisition continues the expansion of ODBM, which earlier in 2023 acquired the Center for Bible Engagement, a non-profit research organization, and absorbed the Bible Literacy Coalition, a network of similarly Bible-devoted organizations, publications, and institutions.
“We seek to fuel a global Bible engagement movement but cannot do it alone. That is why one of ODBM’s key strategies is to come together with like-minded organizations to extend our reach and increase our impact,” Dr. Matt Lucas, president and CEO of ODBM said in a statement. He told PW via email that IFBR will be incorporated into Our Daily Bread Ministries "to leverage the strength of both brands."
In the acquisition announcement, IFBR co-founder, Paul Caminiti called ODBM " a deeply kindred spirit, with multi-faceted competencies, and a remarkable global footprint. ” His new role will be senior director of the IFBR's Institute for Bible Reading, which offers resources to help Christian individuals and communities better read and better understand Scripture.
Our Daily Bread Ministries has 32 offices worldwide distributing Bible resources in print, video, audio, and digital platforms including a pamphlet, Our Daily Bread, which is distributed in in 58 languages in 150 countries. ODMB's publishing arm (formerly Discovery House) produces trade books, children’s books, gifts, video series, devotionals, and Bible studies. Lucas told PW they will be looking for "emerging content creators who align with Our Daily Bread Ministries' Bible Engagement ethos and desire to impact the global church."
