Lester Addresses Education Barriers for IVP
IVP associate editorial director Al Hsu has acquired world rights to From Dropout to Doctorate: What It Takes to Break the Chains of Systemic Injustice by I See You author Dr. Terence Lester, founder of Love Beyond Wall. The book exposes the complexities surrounding the scarcity of Ph.Ds in urban areas, advocates for equitable access to advanced education, and addresses systemic barriers that limit opportunities for Black people. Trinity McFadden of the Bindery negotiated the deal. The book is set for a 2025 release.
Mason Sells Two to Multnomah
Drew Dixon, executive editor at Multnomah, has taken world rights to two books by Eric Mason in a deal negotiated by Jevon Bolden at Embolden Media Group. The first, Rebranding the Church: Restoring the Image of God’s People in the World, is set for Summer 2025. The second, Anchored: How to be Secure in a Drifting World, has no release date yet. Mason (Urban Apologetics, Manhood Restored) is pastor of Epiphany Church in Philadelphia.
Book on Hobbies to IVP
Ted Olsen, associate publisher and editor at IVP has negotiated for world rights to Created to Play: Finding God’s Presence and Our Purpose in Hobbies by Brianna Janelle Lambert. Lambert—on staff for Gospel-Centered Discipleship and a home school mom—helps readers discover how God uses play to bolster our faith and leads to richer understanding of leisure. The book, which is unagented, is tentatively set for a Fall 2025 publication.
Prolific Gunn's Latest to Harvest House
Ruth Samsel, senior editor Barb Sherrill at Harvest House Publishers has acquired world rights from Janet Kobobel Grant of Books & Such Literary for By the Sea: Glimpses of Eternity, Reflections of Simple Hope by Robin Jones Gunn, author of more than 100 books and who has lived close to the ocean most of her life. By the Sea, scheduled for March 2025 release, offers essays, reflections, and the author's poems that highlight the beauty of creation and the joy of refreshing one's soul by the sea.
Christian Parenting Study to Brazos
Brazos Press senior editor Stephanie Duncan Smith has bought world rights to In the Way They Should Go by Marissa Burt and Kelsey Kramer McGinnis. Keely Boeving of WordServe Literary brokered the deal. The authors—both are parents and scholars—examine the ideological, political, and social forces that gave rise to the Christian parenting empire to show how its teachings shaped a generation's beliefs, development, and relationship with God. A fall 2025 release is planned.
Paraclete Takes Picture Book
Lillian Miao, director at Paraclete Press, has acquired world rights to Every Body Wonderfully Made: God's Good Plan for Boys and Girls by Courtney Siebring, and illustrated by Irina Avgustinovich. The hardcover picture book for ages 3-10 relays the incredible delight that each human is crafted by God, fearfully and wonderfully made. Publication is set for September 2024. Alex Plum at The Plum Agency represented Avgustinovich; Siebring is unagented.
Spiritual Trauma Help to Brazos
Katelyn Beaty, editorial director at Brazos Press has acquired world rights for Hillary L. McBride’s Holy/Hurt. Angela Scheff at the Christopher Ferebee Agency. Set for a spring 2025 release, the book is for those who have experienced spiritual trauma in well- known churches, such as Hillsong, or smaller church communities or family systems. McBride (The Wisdom of Your Body) is a registered psychologist and host of the podcast Other People’s Problems.
Purim Board Book to PJ Publishing
Naomi Shulman, managing editor at PJ Publishing, has acquired world rights to Purim Baskets by National Jewish Book Award winner Nancy Churnin, with illustrations by Amy Schimler-Safford. This rhyming board book challenges toddlers to guess which creatures get which Purim baskets, based on goodies packed inside. Publication is slated for February 2026. Karen Grencik at Red Fox Literary represented the author, and Marietta B. Zacker at Gallt & Zacker Literary Agency represented the illustrator.
